I’m back! And 21! The last week has been CRAZY, crazy fun. Inspiring, really. This birthday has me excited, as I know this year will bring me great success. To be spending a month a half in Europe is the first and best blessing, but I will continue to work hard and be great throughout this next year.
The first stop on my trip was Paris. It was beautiful. Definitely one of the prettiest cities. Lots more diversity than Italy and Greece. Interracial couples GALORE. Fountains, churches. We visited the L’ouvre, the Eiffel and Notre Dame. We saw the smaller-than-life Mona Lisa. We saw numerous pieces by Da Vinci and Michel Angelo. The food wasn’t great (big shocker there) but the city made up for it. I spoke a little French I knew with whoever I could. Made for several laughing moments. The hostel was TERRIBLE ! But the cityscape was breathtaking.
Madrid was a lot more lax. A much smaller city, we did a walking tour and learned so much history. The bar was a ton of fun too. Our hostel was cute AF and they hosted a sangria-game-night. My kind of party. The food was Madrid was fire too. The entire atmosphere was chill. It was fun to learn where everyone was from and get some insight on their culture. Met a bunch of people from Australia and New Zealand. I gotta make a trip. I also noticed the more casual lifestyle of the Spanish. We finally saw people and shorts in sandals. [Italians wore jeans and sneakers EVERYWHERE.] Lots of Brazilians were visiting Madrid while we were there. It was overall really relaxing, small city vibe with rich, big city history. Don’t forget paddling in the park!
Barcelona was beautiful as well. Not as much aesthetically, but still rich historically. Sangria here isn’t what I thought it’d be. We didn’t make it to Gaudi Museum but were able to experience a lot of what the city had to offer. We saw a lady fall down the escalator going up to Guell park, so my fear of heights overcame me and I was scared AF to climb that hill. Sarah forced me.
The beach at Palma Mallorca (Illetas) was beautiful. And topless. We went to the market, picked up some fruit and enjoyed the sun and sangria. For dinner I had some INCREDIBLY well seasoned prawns (shrimp, but I say prawn now) as an appetizer with a grilled sea bream. So damn good.
